It is a liquid solution composed primarily of ethanol or isopropanol, usually with a purity of 96 % or more, to which are added denaturants to avoid its use in human consumption. It is used as a solvent, cleaner and disinfectant in industrial processes, manufacturing of chemicals, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and cleaning of equipment and surfaces.
