Nitric acid
Liquid clear, colorless or yellowish, corrosive, suffocating, and corrosive. The yellow color is due to the detachment of carbon dioxide by exposing it to the light.

- Manufacture of fertilizers and nitrogen (as ammonium nitrate)
- Explosives industry: production of nitroglycerin, TNT and other energetic compounds
